PERSEVERANCE AND COURAGE

Kirstie Ennis is a retired U.S. Marine Sergeant, motivational speaker, entrepreneur, snowboarder, mountain climber, left-leg amputee and more.

She holds three Master’s degrees and is currently working to complete her doctorate in Education. In 2019, Kirstie was honored at the 2019 ESPYs with the Pat Tillman Award. Lastly, Kirstie has been a LEER ambassador since 2018, and we are beyond proud to partner with such an amazing young woman. After being injured in helicopter crash while on duty in Afghanistan in 2012 and enduring more than 40 surgeries along with the amputation of her left leg above the knee, the former Marine Sergeant has accomplished more at 30 years old than many have achieved in a lifetime. Kirstie Ennis impacts the lives of others by demonstrating her servant leadership mentality through speaking engagements all across the country, and through her non-profit organization, the Kirstie Ennis Foundation.

The Kirstie Ennis Foundation works to inspire individuals to stubbornly climb the mountain in front of them. The Foundation lives by one Kirstie’s favorite mantras: “Show the world we control our circumstances, they do not control us.”

A registered, 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization, the Kirstie Ennis Foundation aims to financially support deserving organizations that are dedicated to improving the quality of life of individuals and families. Through events such as Rock-Climbing and Snowboarding Clinics (two of Kirstie’s passions), the Foundation works to provide education, opportunity, and healing in the outdoors. In addition, the Kirstie Ennis Foundation partners with organizations with similar missions of improving the quality of life of individuals through mobility and works to introduce new and recycled medical device technology to underserved communities around the world.

Kirstie has turned the concept of “disabled athlete” on its head, proving how capable she still is, whether it’s on one leg or two. She competed in boardercross and banked slalom as a Paralympic snowboarder and then ventured into mountaineering, summitting Mt Kilimanjaro (at 19,341-feet it’s the highest point in Africa) to support the non-profit The Waterboys; then successfully climbed Carstenzs, the highest point in Oceania, for The Heroes Project; and then conquered Iliniza Norte, a 16,818-foot peak in Ecuador. She has attempted Cotopaxi, the highest peak in Ecuador; got turned around by weather on Denali; and made it to the South Summit of Everest. She hopes to complete the Seven Summits by climbing the highest peak on every continent.

LEER Truck Caps and BEDSLIDE cargo drawers are proud to partner with Kirstie Ennis and the Kirstie Ennis Foundation.
